Guest Diary SPAIN 2003

Paul meets Lance

"The resort itself offers so much beyond just road cycling. Besides superb road riding, the biggest surprise was the quality of the mountain bike trails in the hills surrounding the resort. And triathletes will appreciate the lap pool and protected cove for open water swim training.

I was lucky enough to go on my EuroCycler training vacation during March, when the Setmana Catalana passes right in front of the resort. Not only did I have the chance to see Lance and some of the big boys up close and personal, but I also got to test myself on the same roads and climbs on which they rode—just a whole lot slower!” - Paul Swinand, Chicago, cat. 1 rider

 Chris Sneddon

"It's just the coolest thing in the world to jump into a bike jersey and train all day in an international field of cyclists. I spend several weeks here and later meet many of the guests again back home at races. Chris Sneddon, B.C., Canada, U23 champion

"As an amateur cyclist, Eurocyler gave me the personalized attention befitting of a pro! Special attention, a personal guide and training tips and encouragement made this European tour the memory of a lifetime. In addition, comfortable accommodations, great food and camraderie, and an eclectic mix of vacationers, brought the experience to a whole new level beyond the usual "European vacation." I saw the countryside up close, mixed with peoples from all countries, and gained an understanding of both fitness and culture that are light years beyond the typical tour. Eurocyler is a unique and compelling alternative to the usual process of travel. I recommend it highly to anyone looking to expand their stamina, horizons and traditional notions of travel in Europe." - Valerie Green, NY, NY

"The availability of different terrain, from long easy hills, to short steep walls, to high mountains made it really ideal. The scenery was incredible and the weather could not have been more perfect! The only problem we had was that we wanted to ride TOO MUCH because it was so cool!” - Paul Swinand, Chicago, cat. 1 rider

Mike C., right, meets riders from PA

"Really great food, and a lot of it. Riding cannot get much better: smooth roads and plenty of hills and mountains – and the scenery, just breathtaking. Always great weather. Was really cool to hang out with the Euro riders – one week is almost to short to enjoy it all." - Mike C., Hershey, PA
